Uflex, India's packaging producer has selected Mexico for installation of its US$108 mln polyester film project. The company said that the 125,000 tpa flexible plastics film plant will be erected in Altamira, located in northeastern Mexico's Tamaulipas state. The polyesters film projects will be put into execution in multiple phases. Phase-1 is expected to be commissioned by Q1 of 2008 and will have manufacturing capacity of 36,000 tpa of flexible plastic films.
Uflex has opted for Mexico considering its strategic location in the Americas to target North, Central and South American markets. In addition, the market shows a lot of potential and Mexico has no polyester manufacturing units at present.
