Following scheduled maintenance, Ineos Polyolefins (Lyndhurst,UK) attempted an unsuccessful start up of its Scottish facility at Grangemouth. This caused the company to declare "force majeure" for ethylene (C2), propylene (C3) and butadiene on 29 May 2007.
Ineos has been successful in getting the G4 cracker back on stream last week. The "force majeure" has only been lifted for butadiene, until the maintenance work on the second cracker gets completed. Upon completion of the maintenance work on the second cracker, estimated after 4 weeks, the FM on ethylene and propylene will be lifted.
