Leicester based injection moulder, Invicta Plastics' plans to launch shortly, products made from a low carbon polymer material, are expected to impact the sustainable packaging market. The products are made from Cardia biohybrid resin that can reduce a product's carbon footprint by up to 50%, as per PRW.com. The masterbatch is made from Dent Corn - a by product from the animal feed industry - and is blended with traditional polyolefins. It is unlike polymers based on renewably sourced materials, as it is produced from waste material so no extra carbon is used to produce it. The material can go through mainstream plastic recycling up to four times and doesn't need to go through a special process like some other green polymers. It can be also used on existing equipment in blow moulding, extrusion, coatings, and in films.
