Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) plans to build a 350,000 tpa paraxylene (PX) plant at a refinery located in Haldia, West Bengal. The feasibility study for the new PX facility has been completed and awaits buying land for construction. IOC also plans PX capacity expansion at Haldia from 470,000 tpa to 1.27 mln tpa by June 2008. This capacity build up has been planned in order to meet the demand from MCC PTA India Corporation Pvt Ltd (MCC PTA), a subsidiary of Japan's Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (MCC).
