Iran exports US$3.7 bln of petrochemicals since March 21, 2007

As per a statement, US$3.7 bln of petrochemicals were exported from Iran since March 21, 2007. Iran has sold US$5.5 bln worth of various petrochemical products since the start of the current Iranian calendar year amounting to nearly 16 mln tons of petrochemicals. Sales for the year (till March 20, 2008) are expected to reach US$8.3 bln. Iran ranked second after Saudi Arabia in the Middle East in production of petrochemicals. The petrochemical units at Pars and Mahshahr Special Economic Zones are expected to become operational by year-end to, producing almost 32 mln tons of petrochemicals.
