Japan's naphtha imports for petrochemicals falls 22% in April 2012 from April 2011

Japan's naphtha imports for the petrochemical sector fell 22% in April 2012 as compared to April 2011, a Reuters calculation based on government figures showed. Imports of naphtha for ethylene production totalled 0.98 mln tons last month, down from 1.25 mln tons in the April 2011, as per the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Total import for April 2012 was 883,666 tons, valued at US$892,047,195 vs 979,167 tons valued at US$1,067,865,747 in March 2012.
