Japan's Shin-Etsu restarts PVC plant in Kashima

14-Apr-05
Japan's Shin-Etsu restarted its 520,000 mta PVC plant in Kashima after it was shut down on April 11. This shutdown was triggered by a stoppage in feedstock supplies by Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi's naphtha cracker was shutdown to carry out safety checks and ensure the extent of damage, if any, due to an earthquake that hit Japan’s Kashima region earlier this week. This shutdown is expected to last for the week. Mitsubishi does not expect to restart the complex until April 15 at the earliest.
