KPI selects LyondellBasell to provide technologies for three world scale polyolefins plant in Kazakhstan

LyondellBasell, a global leader in polyolefins technology has been chosen by the Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries Inc. LLP (KPI) to provide its Spherilene technology (using a single gas phase reactor "S" configuration) for the production of linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) and high density polyethylene (HDPE) at its 400,000 tpa unit. In addition, KPI will also house a 400,000 tpa low density polyethylene (LDPE) unit which will employ Lupotech T process technology and a 500,000 tpa unit for Polypropylene (PP) production using Spherizone technology. The three plants, to be constructed at the petrochem complex of Karabatan in Kazakhstan, will take maximum advantage of raw material availability in the region. LyondellBasell is one of the holding partners in the KPI and will provide the PE and PP technologies for the three world scale plants expected to start operations by 2013.
