KPPC’s first ever shipment of heavy aromatics being shipped to Asia

08-Feb-11
Kuwait Paraxylene Production Company (KPPC) has exported its first ever shipment of heavy aromatics. Heading to customers in Asia, the shipment's size is 17,000 metric tons. KPPC is a fully owned subsidiary of Kuwait Aromatics Company (KARO). On this occasion, KARO board Chairman Al-Rashidi said, "KPPC aromatics plant will continue selling heavy aromatics produced at the site, with a capacity of 80,000 metric tons annually (MTA), to enhance the added-value and returns from this stream to the aromatics business. The stream which was previously used as a fuel substitute at the site has a higher market replacement value and will also reduce the site's overall carbon print due to lower CO2 emissions resulting from the use of cleaner fuels. In addition to heavy aromatics, KKPC's aromatics complex produces 829,000 MTA of Paraxylene and 393,000 MTA of Benzene.
