LG Chem has purchased around 50,000 tons of open-spec naphtha for H1-July arrival at Yeosu at a discount of US$3/ton to Japan quote on a cost-and-freight (C&F) basis, as per Reuters. This is the lowest level seen in South Korea in nearly eight months. Market sentiments have been on a downtrend since May 13 after Asia's top naphtha buyer Formosa shut one of its three crackers following a fire at a pipeline.
