Taiwan's Formosa Petrochemical has advanced a maintenance schedule at its 190,000 tpa MTBE plant at Mailiao. The MTBE plant, scheduled for a 25-day turnaround over from August 11-September 4, was shut along with other units at the complex after last weekend's fire, as per Platts. The MTBE plant uses around 10,000 mt/month of methanol feedstock. No restart date has been confirmed yet, and restart is likely after the refinery restart. The MTBE plant gets its C4 feedstock from the refinery. The 540,000 bpd refinery at Mailiao suspended operations at all units after a July 30 fire at its propylene recovery unit.
