Malaysia's Titan to restart aromatics, polymer units after power outage

15-Jan-05
At about 12:30 (0430 GMT) a blackout hit the states of Johore Bahru, Selangor and Malacca, on the west coast of Malaysia. The blackout interrupted power supply, affecting aromatics and polymers production at Titan Petrochemicals' complex in Pasir Gudang, Malaysia. Titan's aromatics units have a capacity of 130,000 mta of benzene and 70,000 mta of toluene and polymer units include a 205,000 mta linear low/high density polyethylene swing plant; a 220,000 mta LDPE line; a 105,000 mta HDPE line and a 360,000 mta polypropylene plant. The two naphtha crackers have a capacity of 720,000 tpa of ethylene. Malaysia's top petrochemicals firm, Titan Petrochemicals (M) Sdn. Bhd., plans to restart its naphtha crackers, on successful inspection.
