All Mexico's crude-loading and petrochemicals ports were open to shipping early Friday, the Ministry of Communications and Transportation reported, despite the anticipated landfall of Hurricane Patricia along the country's Pacific Coast, the Ministry of Communications and Transportation was reported in Platts.
However, three general ports on the Mexican Pacific Coast- Manzanillo, Lazaro Cardenas and Puerto Vallarta- were closed amid forecasts that Hurricane Patricia was heading their way. Manzanillo and Lazaro Cardenas are industrial ports, while Puerto Vallarta is concentrated mainly on tourism. Manzanillo also includes a major LNG import terminal and a 2,700-MW combined-cycle plant owned by the Federal Electricity Commission, the state power company. Lazaro Cardenas has a specialized dock for coal imports to fuel the nearby Petacalco power plant. At nearly 2,800 MW, Petacalco is the largest power plant in Latin America.
