New low emission silicones unveiled for polyurethane flexible foam

31-Mar-09
Momentive Performance Materials, a specialty materials company, recently introduced a new line of low emission silicones that may help manufacturers of polyurethane flexible foam improve production processes, reduce emissions and enhance the performance of their products. The new line named Niax* silicones L-559, L-701, L-818 and L-820, can be considered for use in foam formulations based on polyether polyols. This new family of silicones are said to provide reduced volatile organic compounds in finished foam products, potentially helping manufacturers meet today's stringent emissions requirements. "Momentive' s new low emission technology is a tremendous improvement over traditional silicone products, thanks to its low emission properties and high performance in ether-based polyurethane foams," said Alberto Melle, global marketing manager, Momentive.
