UK-based Amber Composites recently unveiled a new nano-modified tooling prepreg called HX90N, a low temperature curing epoxy resin system. The new nano-modified tooling improves the surface flatness and finish of tools made from various pattern materials including aluminum or epoxy tooling board. The new HX90N can reduce preparation time necessary to achieve class A surfaces as well as reduce the amount of primer needed, which decreases the weight of the finished product. Tool life is also extended due to less surface pitting. The prepreg is an easy material to use with excellent drapeability, allowing complex shapes to be easily formed.
