New resin to offer increased clarity and toughness for cosmetic packaging

Nova Chemicals has launched a cost competitive resin for injection molding applications used in cosmetics packaging. The resin offers crisp clarity combined with the impact toughness of the toughest grades. This resin is an alternative to polycarbonate, clear ABS and impact acrylic, and delivers superior value through its density advantage, which results in more parts per pound versus other clear resins. Energy and labor costs associated with processing are up to 40% lower than competing materials. The Zylar 631 resin is the latest addition in the fast-growing Zylar family, which is also suitable for a variety of other packaging applications, including medical devices and houseware. The success of Zylar resins has helped Nova Chemicals' division grow at an average of 30%in the past 5 years.
