No impact on petrochem operations after typhoon hits Taiwan

Typhoon Talim blew rapidly through Taiwan early on Thursday, killing one person and forcing the closure of schools, businesses and government offices around the island. Talim has had no impact on operations of Chinese Petroleum Corp. and Formosa Petrochemical Corp. CPC's refineries have a combined capacity of 770,000 bpd and 3 naphtha crackers with a capacity of around 1 million tpa of ethylene. Formosa Petrochemical's (Taiwan's only other refiner) 450,000 bpd refinery at Mailiao has also not been affected. However, Keelung and Suao ports in the north are restricting entry of ships and have halted dockside work
