Wood plastic composites are manufactured from the combination of wood fibers and synthetic resin such as polypropylene, polyethylene or Polyvinyl Chloride which belong to the thermoplastic category. Wood, which is in the form of sawdust or wood flour and Wood fibers are recycled and pines are vigorously mixed with heated thermoplastic resins. Wood Plastic Composites possess the dual properties of wood and plastic. On mixing, wood flour magnifies the mechanical properties and thermal properties as compared to solid thermoplastics.

Globally, increasing demand from building & construction activities and increasing demand for recyclable materials in automotive industry is expected to be the prime growth factor for wood plastic composites during the period of study.
