Cargo value of CIF Northwest Europe naphtha fell by US$1.50/mt on the day to be assessed at a two-month low of US$523.75/mt on Monday. Prices have fallen to 2 month lows amid mixed fundamentals including subdued spot buying interest and a difficult arbitrage to Asia, traders said in Platts. Some unsold naphtha which is not attracting much buying interest, industry sources said.
According to a market participant, the naphtha market was quiet partly due to seasonality. This is the season when naphtha's rival feedstock LPG is traditionally cheaper, and only blending grades of naphtha with low Reid Vapor Pressure are suitable to be blended into summer gasoline.
