New York's main contract, light sweet crude for delivery in June dipped to US$88.7 a barrel, while Brent North Sea crude for June dipped to US$100.05 in mid-morning trade. Oil prices eased in Asia on release of data from China showing weak Chinese manufacturing activity, stoking concerns of demand. Preliminary data manufacturing activity in China slowed in April due to sluggish foreign demand. Last week’s numbers showed the Chinese economy grew 7.7% in the January-March quarter, slower than the 7.9% in the previous three months and below the forecast 8%.
