Petronas subsidiary awards US$328 mln contract to multinational consortium for RAPID

Petronas Chemical Group subsidiary PRPC Polymers awarded a US$328 mln contract to a multinational consortium that includes China Huanqiu Contracting & Engineering, Italy-based Tecnimont and Tecnimonthqc as well as Malaysia-based Tecnimonthqc. The contract took effect today and runs through July 9, 2019.
The consortium is to contribute to a refinery and petrochemical integrated development project called RAPID, as per Nikkei staff writer. In a stock exchange filing, the company stated that the consortium will be producing an annual 400,000 tons of high density polyethylene (HDPE). The RAPID project, part of the Pengerang Integrated Petroleum Complex, is based in the southern state of Johor.
