USA and China to lead Global Q1 ethylene capacity and capital expenditure outlook till 2020

Global ethylene industry is expected to spend around US$46.54 bln by 2020 for the upcoming projects, as per Research and Markets. Russia, US and China are the top three countries by capital expenditure for projects by 2020.

Global ethylene capacity will experience considerable growth in the next five years with increase from 172.68 mln tpa in 2015 to 227.46 mln tpa by 2020. Large capacity additions with more than 80 planned projects are expected to come online primarily in the US, China and Iran in the next five years. China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, Rosneft Oil Company and Formosa Plastics Group are the top three companies by capacity additions expected to come onstream over the next five years.
