Plastic trading on LME on the rise

Trading of plastics futures on the London Metal Exchange has increased strongly in recent days as Companies are hedging PP and LLDPE prices for 2006. For the month of September, 45,000 tons of PP and 29,000 tons of LLDPE was traded - a very 'encouraging' increase. Recent buying and selling of futures for January to June 2006 indicates that some plastics companies are hedging prices in 2006 material supply deals.
