PolyOne has launched liquid colourants for use in bioplastics in biodegradable applications. Tests for the concentrates, which are European food contact compliant, have shown no migration even after a long ageing period. The concentrates are based on sustainable natural raw materials, and can be used in a variety of biopolymers like polylactic acid (PLA) or starch based blends. Use of these carriers helps avoid an impact on transparency in PLA. Patents are pending for the product. allows the use of standard dosing equipment.
