PTT Chemical’s ethylene plant continues to be suspended in the Map Ta Phut controversy. It is one of the two projects on a list of activities deemed environmentally harmful by the court, resulting in its licence being withdrawn. Under the constitution, the company is required to complete environmental and health impact assessments, hold public hearings and pass independent reviews before it can operate. PTTCH expects to spend 4-5 months to take the measures required to comply with regulations before re applying for a licence.
