With the successful start up of its ethylene expansion project (EP2) in Q4-2007, Qatar Petrochemical Company's (Qapco) has become an ethylene exporter. With EP2, Qapco's annual ethylene production capacity has increased from 535,000 tons to 720,000 tons.
It has signed a contract of affreightment (CoA) with Danish firm Eitzen Gas for shipping up to 110,000 tons of ethylene until December. Eitzen has been working with QAPCO since the past 10 years. Last year it exported about 160,000 tons of ethylene from Qapco to various destinations in Asia and Europe.
