QAPCO urges RIL, GAIL to discuss plans for mega petrochem plant

16-Jan-09
India's Reliance Industries (RIL) and Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) have been called by Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO) to 'discuss the project details' for establishing a large scale petrochemical plant in Qatar. In December 2007, the two Indian companies inked an MoU to establish the 1.9 mln ton petrochemical plant. Qatar was one of the nations shortlisted by RIL and GAIL for the purpose. RIL and GAIL have decided on a 3-year timeline to start work on the project. Currently, the two companies are on lookout for gas rich nations which can provide natural gas as a feedstock for the petrochem plant.
