Qatofin has exported about 4,500 tons of ethylene from the Ras Laffan Olefins Company (RLOC), shipping it via Norgas, the company’s ethylene shipping contractor. Commercial operations were started in May at Qatofin, a joint venture involving Qatar Petrochemical Company (Qapco, 63%), Total Petrochemicals of France (36%) and Qatar Petroleum (1%). The plant has been designed to produce 450,000 tpa of linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE), sourcing feedstock ethylene from Ras Laffan Olefins Company’s ethylene cracker of 1.3 mln tpa.
