S. Arabia's Tasnee aims to build naphtha cracker complex if offered stake in Jizan refinery complex

Should Tasnee Petrochemicals (Saudi Arabia) be offered a stake in Jizan refinery complex in Saudi Arabia, the company is considering to establish a 1.5 mln tpa naphtha cracker complex by 2013-14. The Jizan refinery complex, in which eight Saudi Arabian players have expressed interest for acquiring stake, is expected to have 400,000 bbl/day output while producing around 500,000 tpa of benzene and xylenes. The naphtha cracker complex under planning by Tasnee is expected to produce olefins and polyolefins. Tasnee Petrochemicals, in a JV with LyondellBasell operates a 400,000 tpa polypropylene (PP) plant at Al Jubail and is bringing yet another cracker complex at the same location in partnership with Sahara Petrochemicals and LyondellBasell.
