Sasol Canada has filed a regulatory application to the Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development, further reiterating its commitment to build a gas-to-liquids plant in the province, as per Platts.
Terming the submission as the "next phase" of the regulatory review process, Sasol said the capacity of the planned facility will be 103,900 bpd, up from 6,000 bpd planned earlier. No reason was given for the increase in capacity. The plant will be constructed in two phases, with each phase having a production capacity of 51,950 b/d of liquid fuels. The project would be the first GTL facility constructed in Canada and would convert natural gas to three value-added products: GTL diesel, GTL naphtha and LPG.
