Sasol Synfuels shut down a portion of its Secunda operations for three weeks, as part of statutory requirement for petrochemical companies to shut down their equipment for inspection and repairs. With approximately 14,500 additional workers employed and over 150,000 activities completed, the Secunda shutdown is regarded as the biggest of its kind in the world. The shutdown operation included welding, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation activities.
