Russian petrochemicals group Sibur’s subsidiary, Polief, has completed its PET production expansion. Polief has increased PET capacity from 140,000 tpa to 210,000 tpa. As part of the expansion, which cost RUB 1.9 bln (€38 mln), the company modernised its existing PET production lines and constructed a new line. Sibur states that the project will also enable Polief to process terephthalic acid of its own production into in-demand polymers and substitute imports in some Russian PET market segments.
