Sinopec inks strategic agreements with state governments to build 800000 ton ethylene facility

Asia’s largest refiner by capacity- Sinopec, has signed strategic cooperation agreements with the governments of Hubei Province and Wuhan on an ethylene project in Wuhan. To be built at an investment outlay of RMB 17.95 bln construction on the project is expected to commence in the first quarter and will be completed by the end of 2012. The plant, with production capacity of 800,000 tons of ethylene, will start operation in H1-2013. In a move that will ensure sufficient feedstock ethylene supply for the project, Sinopec’s Wuhan branch will expand its oil processing capacity to 9 mln tpa.
