A 4-8 week delay has ensued in the start up of Kuwait Styrene Co.’s ethyl benzene styrene monomer unit due to a technical problem with an intermediate storage tank used in the production of styrene monomer. The exact duration of the shutdown will be ascertained only upon results of technical assessment of the tank. KSC is in contact with customers and has developed plans to help mitigate any production shortfall due to the delay from its plant with capacity to produce 450,000 tpa ethyl benzene and 500,000 tpa styrene monomer.
