Sunoco's PP plant in Texas shutdown

23-Sep-05
In view of the potentially destructive impact of Hurricane Rita, Sunoco Inc. has shut down its LaPorte and Bayport, Texas polypropylene facilities, and evacuated all its non-essential personnel. Damage assessment and repair teams have been assembled and are on stand-by awaiting the storm's passing before returning to the facilities. The facilities will be restarted as soon as it can be done safely. Sunoco expects supply and logistics for polypropylene to be disrupted in the U.S. Gulf Coast Region for an extended period of time. The storm path and severity makes the magnitude and duration uncertain.
