Rapid Granulator AB, the Swedish-based leader in plastics granulation and technology, and part of the Pennsylvania based IPEG, announced at the NPE show that it has acquired Avian Machinery, the Shanghai-based manufacturer of granulator and recycling systems. The new investment reflects a significant step forward in Rapid's Asian capabilities, giving the company access to a well established Chinese and Asian distribution network, as well as significantly expanding its local manufacturing and assembly capabilities. The acquisition will mean Rapid is able to service local Chinese and Asian customers more quickly and efficiently, reduce lead times and boost its competitiveness in the Asian market.
As part of the agreement, Rapid will relocate their operations in China to Avian's 50,000 sq. m facility located in Shanghai, China. This ten-fold expansion in production space means Rapid will be now able to manufacture and assemble more of its own product range in China for local customers. Avian Machinery was founded in Australia in 1982 and moved its production to China in 1997. The company is now Asia's second largest manufacturer of granulator machinery, with a comprehensive network across the region and a leading market position in China. Avian machines have also been selling successfully in Europe through channel partners for a number of years, in particular in the UK, Germany and Spain. The company manufactures and sells a broad range of high-quality equipment, from heavy to small-sized granulators, as well as pulverizers, shredders and post-recycling equipment.
