Taiwan’s April oil imports fall as Formosa shuts unit for planned maintenance

Taiwan, which imports more than 99% of its crude requirements, purchased less of the fuel in April after Formosa Petrochemical Corp. halted a unit for scheduled maintenance. Oil imports dropped 21% to US$2.92 bln. Shipments fell 8.8% from a year earlier to 26.98 mln barrels, the Ministry of Finance said. Formosa Petrochemical shut its No. 1 crude distillation unit (CDU) in mid-March for 50 days of maintenance.
