Maire Tecnimont SpA has been awarded an important petrochemical project in Venezuela through its operating company Tecnimont SpA. The contracts have been signed with Polinter (belonging to PEQUIVEN), initially foresee the provision of basic engineering design services and the procurement of long lead items. Total value of the contract is estimated at €90 mln, for a new low density polyethylene (LDPE) plant. It is foreseen that the contract will be converted in the future into a Turn-Key EPC contract.
The plant, belonging to the Olefinas Tercera y Polietilenos El Tablazo complex, is part of the "Indipendencia" project, that will start up by 2011. The plant, with a capacity of 350,000 tpa, will be located at El Tablazo (Zulia) petrochemical complex in Venezuela, by utilizing the Basell "Lupotech T" technology. This is the leading LDPE technology worldwide, for which Tecnimont is considered preferred contractor by Basell.
