Formosa Plastics Corp, a unit of Formosa Plastics Group is planning to invest US$200 million to build a PVC plant in Texas. Subject to approval, this new plant is contemplated to commence mass production within two years.
Formosa Plastics, considered the world's second-largest maker of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), has set its vision on scaling its global position. Its proposed plant in Texas is likely to have an annual production capacity of 170,000 tpa of PVC, which will propel the company's production to almost 2.96 million tpa, as well the company's position to worlds number one in PVC.
