Titan and Polibrasil to increase PP capacities by 2007

26-Jul-05
The Spheripol process commercialized in 1982 is to be used by the Polibrasil and Titan Petrochemicals in order to increase polypropylene production by about 310 KT annually in their existing plants. Basell, the world's largest producer of polypropylene and advanced polyolefin products is to license the technology to the two companies according to separate pacts. Polibrasil plans to increase the capacity of its Spheripol process plant in Mauá, state of São Paulo, Brazil in two phases. The first phase is expected to increase the plants annual capacity from the existing 240 KT to about 360 KT in early 2007 while the second phase, scheduled for completion in 2008, is expected to increase the capacity of the plant to about 450KT per year. Titan Petchem on the other hand plans to increase the capacity of its Spheripol process plant at Pasir Gudang, Malaysia from the existing 100 KT to about 200 KT by the end of 2007 when the project is planned to be complete.
