06-Jun-05
Titan Chemicals, the Pasir Gudang based Malaysian petrochem major produces ethylene, propylene, polyolefins, and caters to both the domestic and Asian markets. Its annual production of stands at 2.1 million tons, and almost 27% of its total exports are to China indicating that the Chinese market is too huge to be neglected. To further expand its market there, Titan plans to set up plastic technical centres (PTCs) in China. PTCs in China are to function as service centres enabling the company to cater to the product development needs of the Chinese such as trouble shooting and training. Established in 2001, PTC is Malaysia's largest technical centre for the polyolefins industry. Located at Titan Chemicals' Tanjung Langsat site, it currently provides trouble-shooting services and crucial technical training to more than 3,000 industrial customers. The PTC also generates innovative ideas through indepth research and development.
