Total has lifted force majeure on deliveries of polypropylene, polyethylene and expanded polystyrene at its site in Feluy, Belgium, as per a company source in Platts. On Thursday, the company restarted shipments to customers following more than 48 hours of blocked dispatches. The force majeure was put in place Wednesday following a regional strike by trucking companies which blocked roads in southern Belgium. Total was not available to comment.
Feluy is home to Europe's largest polypropylene plant, which has a production capacity of 900,000 m tpa, making up over 9% of Western Europe's total production capacity.
Total also produces high density polyethylene at the site, and its plant has a production capacity of 170,000 m tpa. Expanded polystyrene production capacity at Feluy is 70,000 m tpa, according to Platts data.
