Two ethylene producers delay planned turnarounds In Texas

04-Mar-16
Two ethylene producers -- INEOS Olefins and Polymers USA and Chevron Phillips Chemical -- are delaying planned outages in Texas, as per market sources in Platts. The startup date for Chevron Chemical's 50-day outage at Sweeny No. 24 in Old Ocean was pushed to the middle of the month, itself a two-week delay. Ineos' Olefins No. 1 in Alvin was pushed back into early April, itself a three-to-four-week delay. CP Chem operates three steam crackers at the Sweeny site, with estimated combined ethylene production capacity of 1.9 mln mt/year, while Ineos operates two plants at their Alvin site, with combined capacity of 1.814 mln mt/year. Representatives from the respective company did not provide any information on the delays or the outages, citing company policies regarding operations.
