State-owned Qatar Petroleum is planning to establish a US$2 bln petrochemicals project in partnership with its subsidiary Qatar Petrochemical Company, France-based Atofina Chemicals and the Chevron Philips Chemical Company, as per a report by Emirates Business. Ras Laffan Industrial City in the northeast of Qatar will house 50% of the proposed petrochemical project while the remaining half will be constructed in Mesaieed Industrial Area, a gateway to southern Qatar. Apart from the planned project, three other petrochem projects are under construction in the country.
