After being the first US city to ban plastic bags , San Fransisco has prohibited their replacements: reusable grocery bags.
San Francisco County has told its residents to stop bringing their own bags from home as part of a new, stricter shelter-in-place order enacted end March.
The order runs through May 3 and is meant to counter the spread of coronavirus throughout the region.
California state has prohibited single-use plastic bags since 2016.
Stores in other cities are reportedly banning reusable bags on their own
It is possible that SFO ban could follow in other places .
