US PE exports unaffected by the shutdown of Dow’s St Charles, Louisiana polyethylene plants

Even as the market awaits date from Dow for restart of its St Charles, Louisiana, polyethylene plants, US PE export market has remains unaffected by the shutdown, as per Platts. Production capacity at St Charles comprises 830,000 tpa LLDPE and 295,000 tpa HDPE. On January 3, Dow was forced to shut down its entire St Charles petrochemical complex following the loss of electricity to the site. The company has not issued force majeure and continues to supply customers from its other production plants in North America. The export market was unmoved by the outage.
