Vote by Port of South Louisiana to buy land for its first facility in St. Charles Parish

The Port of Louisiana’s board is to vote to buy a 40 acre property adjacent to the Dow Chemical plant in Taft from the Triche family. This acquisition will provide the Port of South Louisiana with its first facility in St. Charles Parish and will include 128 feet of Mississippi River batture, would be part of a 240-acre tract that the port hopes to assemble. The port includes 54 miles of riverfront in St. Charles, St. John the Baptist and St. James parishes. Most of the cargo that passes through it consists of bulk cargo such as grain and petrochemicals
