By end of 2010, Wales is to become the first part of great Britain to ban free plastic carrier bags. With effect from the end of next year, all shops, market stalls and takeaways in Wales must charge up to 15p for plastic or paper bags. This revenue would go to a new independent body, which would spend the money on local environmental projects.
