Merquinsa and PolyOne are proud to invite engineers and designers to an upcoming web seminar which will be held on June 19th, 2007 on www.omnexus.com. (Pacific Time, USA: 7 a.m. / Eastern Time, USA: 10 a.m. London Time: 3 p.m. / Paris, Madrid, Rome Time: 4 p.m. hours). This web seminar, hosted by Omnexus, is specifically designed for engineers and specifiers seeking to use masterbatches with thermoplastic urethanes (TPU's) in technically demanding applications.
PolyOne has developed additive and colour masterbatches based on Merquinsa TPU. The influence of masterbatches on both thermoplastic processing and final product performance is critical. Examples of masterbatch products and applications where excellent performance is critical include: new anti-block and high opacity colours for very thin breathable films, easy to process colours for low tolerance calibrated tubing and cables, along with laser marking and colour batches for long term outdoor animal identification.
Merquinsa offers a wide range of TPU polyether and polyester Pearlthane® and Pearlcoat® resins that are complemented by the additive- and colour masterbatches mentioned above. The combined use of the Pearlthane® or Pearlcoat® TPU carrier with the TPU masterbatch most appropriate for a specific application ensures the optimal properties of the final part and cost-effective processing.
PolyOne offers a broad range of colour and additive masterbatches compatible with Merquinsa TPU's providing, anti-oxidant, laser marking, anti-microbial, flame retardant, UV stabilizer, anti-static, slip/anti-block, high opacity performances to satisfy requirements of applications such as ear tags, cables, injection molding, extrusion, calendering, and pressure pipes.
"The influence of masterbatches on both part performance and processability is often underestimated. In the technically demanding applications where we as Merquinsa compete, we have learned that application-specific masterbatches form an essential part of the solutions we offer to our customers. Our alliance with specialist PolyOne is key to support this strategy", said Dennis Feijen, Elastomers Business Manager, Merquinsa.
"Our strategy at PolyOne is to offer tailor-made solutions. This approach often requires that we work together with engineered polymer producers who can deliver high end products while coping with a broad range of requirements. In this regard, Merquinsa is an ideal partner with whom we can provide a complete, specific solution package for our common customers…, " said Christoph Palm, General Manager Colour & Additives Europe, PolyOne.
