An appeal by Petrol-Ish - a Turkish trade union has been made to Turkey's 13th Economic Court for annulling the results of the tender on the sale of Petkim.
The trade union head Mustafa Oztashkin said the sale is not for the benefit of the society claiming the items of the privatization law has been seriously violated. He said they will struggle for achieving the annulment of the tender results on legal level till the end. "This privatization act is contrary to Turkey's interests. On the other, there is no idea on the structure and activity of the purchaser of Petkim. The company owners are reported to engage with doubtful affairs. We cannot possibly let suspected persons own one the strategic establishments of Turkey. We'll struggle till the end. We demand making public the company that purchased Petkim. Otherwise, we will face the row appeared when TUPRASH was privatized in 2004," he underlined.
Republican People's Party and Nationalist Movement Party leaders also stated they will cancel the results of the tender when they come to power. The party also claimed that the ruling party wants to run away by hastily selling Turkey's strategic establishments realizing that it would loose the elections scheduled for 22 July. Nationalist Movement Party leaders stated that they will investigate the results of the tenders on sale of strategic establishments privatized during AKP's ruling and annul if needed.
